Quest for Excellence |
In the present time, healthcare and service
sector have an important role to play in a
nation's economic development and prosperity.
The service sector constitutes roughly 55% of
the Pakistan's economy. The share of this
sector in APO member countries ranges from 38%
to 69%. Quality has played a key role in the
manufacturing sector around the globe but it
remains largely neglected in the service
industry. The reason for the same has been
linked to the fact that service companies are
comprised of people & processes. Work
attitudes and behaviors of the same hamper
quality management application. |

The success of an organization depends heavily
on the quality and competency of its human
resources around quality, productivity
knowledge, customer-focused mind-set and
effective applications of information and
communications technology to these
disciplines.
To pursue these tasks the presence of quality
assurance section in our service organizations
cannot be over-emphasized. Recognizing the
importance of Quality in healthcare and
services sector QPSP has arranged special
features, case studies on quality
implementation from the local and Asian
service organizations. Our next issue will be
on 'Quality in Telecom’. This will also
include regular articles and case studies on
Industrial and Services quality improvement. I

QPSP Health Care Seminar |
QPSP health care chapter,
in collaboration with King Edward Medical University Lahore
organized a seminar on Quality Improvement and Risk Management in
Health Care, in KEMU auditorium on January 17, 2009. Dr. Syed
Mairajuddin Shah the guest speaker from Aga Khan University
Hospital Karachi, shared his knowledge on the subject followed by
question answer session. Session started with an elaborate welcome
speech by Dr Syed Muhammad Awais Pro- Vice chancellor KEMU Lahore,
speech by Chief Guest the Vice Chancellor KEMU and a detail
introduction of QPSP by vice Chairman QPSP Mr. Imran Ahmad Rana.
Mr Kamran Moosa the CEO PIQC Institute of Quality delivered his
speech on "Strategic Quality Management in Health Care.
